CHANCE HAIDER
Hi my name is Chance Haider (yes pronounced Hater) I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I have been a classically trained artist since my youth, thanks to my Grandma who was a painter from Mexico. In my teenage years I took every high school art class I could, and was even an art studio apprentice. I graduated high school early at 17 as an AP honor student, specializing in fine art with multiple art awards under my belt.
Right after graduating I landed my first apprenticeship in Oregon where I learned the basics of the industry, and the artistry of tattooing from my first mentors who taught me neo traditional, and Chicano styles of tattooing. Later I was accepted to expand my knowledge of the industry at school in Shreveport, Louisiana. Under the guidance of my instructor and mentor I graduated at 20 with 8 certifications including: tattoo business management, blood borne pathogens, cover-ups, portraiture tattooing, and more. During my time in Louisiana I was taught the styles of: traditional, illustrative, realism, portraits, watercolor, black & grey and more.
The same year of graduating school in Louisiana I packed up everything and relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah where I landed my first tattoo residency within the first week. Since then I hit the ground running, and made a name for myself in the SLC industry as a blackwork artist. Though Iām primarily primarily known as black & grey/blackwork artist, I love portraits, realism, suminagashi, cybersigilism, floral/natural elements, Chicano, script/lettering, and watercolor.
